The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City marks 51 years in existence this summer and for half of those years it has played host to an award-winning festival. The 26th Annual Chuck Wagon Festival on May 28 and 29 welcomes newcomers and those who count the festival as part of their Memorial Day weekend tradition. There are no doubts the thousands who flock to the festival will include fans who have attended every one since 1991 and those who remember attending as children and now share it with new generations.
The festival offers Chuck Wagon food samples, musical entertainment from Rodeo Opry, family friendly activities and the Museum itself, with its indoor galleries and outdoor gardens. The Dogwood Foundation returns as Presenting Sponsor for the two-day event, open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Children can join in numerous indoor and outdoor activities including, bandana decorating, butter making with Ag in the Classroom, rope making, leather stamping, facepainting, selfie stations and much more. Additionally, Annie Oakley, husband Frank Butler and traveling sales man Dr. H.P Hedgethicket, III, Esq.,Miracle Worker Extraordinaire, will be in attendance to share the stories of their lives. This is an annual must-do for families looking for entertainment and activities for all ages!
