Midsummer Nights is one of the largest art festivals in Norman, taking place in the evening, with a one of a kind atmosphere. The event is the Firehouses opportunity to highlight regional artists, share its mission to provide quality art experiences, and demonstrate its passion for the visual arts to the community. This juried arts festival features 30 unique, high-quality artist booths offering pottery, jewelry, glass, sculpture, woodworking and more. Midsummer Nights is a great opportunity to speak with artists and purchase original works of art priced for every budget, from student to collector.

Children's Activities
This years Midsummer Nights art festival features a variety of exciting art opportunities for children, including the Childrens Art Wall, the innovative Foil Sculpting project, frottage drawings, and figure drawing.

The communitys beloved childrens art activity, the Childrens Art Wall, will be provided for young painters, along with local artists and instructors available to assist the children with their creative compositions. Participants of foil sculpting will be encouraged to construct a multitude of creations, each from a single sheet of foil, which can be added to the FACs environmental platform showcasing a community of imaginative foil sculptures. Frottage drawings are created by rubbing a drawing tool over a textured surface; the drawings can be left as is or used as the basis for further art making. Both children and adults are invited to participate in the figure drawing activity. Located under the central tent, this activity gives visitors the opportunity to create graphite portraits of a professional model. Artist Richard McKown and FAC faculty will also be on hand for this activity, sketching the model and encouraging parents and children to create and display their masterpieces.

The Central Tent
The large central tent will host demonstrations by FAC faculty members, providing attendees with the opportunity to interact with these artists oneon- one and ask questions about their artwork and classes. The central tent will also be home to the free, family-friendly art activities, including foil sculpting, painting creative cubes, and portrait drawing from a live model.

Demonstrations
Throughout Midsummer Nights, Firehouse instructors will be found in the Central Tent demonstrating skills that are taught in classes offered during the year at the FAC. Jewelry teacher, Elyse Bogart, will be crafting silver jewelry pieces both nights alongside a few of her longtime students. Ceramics faculty members Joe Cox and Florene Welcher will demonstrate wheel throwing techniques. Artist Craig Swan will be working on a sculpture while Adrienne Day demonstrates printmaking techniques.
