Sure it can, as Eden Brent proves night after night, concert after concert and on the 2008 album, “Mississippi Number One.” Critics laud the singer/songwriter’s attitude as “Bessie Smith meets Diana Krall meets Janis Joplin,” and they wax poetic over her “whiskey-smoke” voice. Eden learned her boogie-woogie piano chops from blues pioneer Boogaloo Ames, who dubbed the ball of energy “Little Boogaloo.” | |
